Portarlington St Vincent de Paul are holding an additional fundraising dance on Friday March 17 at 9.30pm. Dancing to Done & Dusted. Come along for a great night of ballroom & jigs & reels dancing. No partner needed. All welcome. Admission €8.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Christina (Teena) Carey (nee O’Callaghan), Bracklone St. Teena was predeceased by her loving husband Paddy & son George. She will be sadly missed by her sons Tom & Dermot, daughters Mary, Joyce & Jacqueline, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her extended family & friends. Requiem Mass took place in St Michael’s Church on Tuesday February 21, with burial after in St Michaels Cemetery. May Teena rest in Peace.

It was with great sadness that the community heard of the death of Jackie Gleeson Link Rd & formerly Emo. Jackie was predeceased by her father Michael. She will be sadly missed by her mother Margaret, brothers Denis, Michael & Thomas, sisters Audrey, Georgina & Stephanie, her extended family, friends & especially her good friend Donal & her friends from Oak House. Requiem Mass took place in St Paul’s Church Emo on Tuesday February 21, with burial after in the new Cemetery Emo. May Jackie rest in Peace.

Peter will be deeply missed by his loving wife Philomena, sons Peter Jnr, Damian & Lorcan, daughter Elizabeth, grandchildren, his extended family & friends. Peter will be remembered for the wonderful work he did with the Lourdes Committee & will be fondly remembered by all the people he helped every year on the annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes. Portarlington GAA registration for all players and members is now open for the 2017 season. Registration can be paid every Wednesday between 7-9pm in the small meeting room.

U6 football training has started again for 2017 and is on Sunday Mornings at 10am in the hall. Hurling training for all ages is at 11am every Sunday in the hall.

Laois GAA All County Draw is now taking place. This is a major fundraiser for both CLG Laois and for Portarlington GAA .Tickets sold are entered into the 4 draws with 25 prizes each which have jackpots ranging from €10,000 down to €250.Tickets can be obtained from our Treasurer Madeline Ward at 085- 1018048 or in the GAA Centre every Wednesday night or from any committee member.

Portarlington GAA Annual Good Friday Poker Classic will take place on April 14 at 8.30 pm in the GAA Centre. Refreshments served. Tickets from Joe Whelan 087- 2529977 or Cam McGettrick 087- 7799520.

Congratulations to the lads on the Colaiste Iosagain Junior team who won the South Leinster Junior B Final on February 16 in Carlow GAA training grounds by defeating Gorey C.S by a score of 0-12 to 1-06.

Championship draws for Port made on February 22 are as follows. Senior Championship Rd 1 Port Vs Arles Killeen. Junior Championshiip –  Port in Group C with Kilcavan, Ballyroan Abbey and Graiguecullen. U21 Championship – Port in 1/4 final proper vs Sarsfields . Minor Championship Rd 1  Port Vs Portlaoise.
