Around Portarlington Way
Another great outing for the club. We departed on Sunday August 28 from our club house in Garryhinch, with another pick up in Portarlington. A full coach load of 49 happy passengers headed on their break. We had a coffee break in Adare, which was a chance to walk around this picturesque village.
Most of our members and friends might only meet yearly on this outing so it’s a great get together. Our hotel was the Castlerosse in Killarney and as we have stayed with them before, every one settled in quickly. The hotel is very accommodating so all needs were attend to. Afternoon tea every day, wine receptions, room for bingo and music and dancing every night. I love how the Bridge ladies enjoy the Bingo.
We all have great fun at it and big thanks to all the helpers. We had outings to Blarney and Cork city, Kenmare town where it was market day and very peculiar parcels came back to the bus. One lady who shall be nameless bought a three legged skilled pot and says she is going to bake in it. Kenmare is the only architectural designed town in Ireland.
We also went to Molls Gap & Ladies view. You never get bored with beautiful Kerry. We had a day free from touring to walk around Killarney to do as you please.
It was a wonderful relaxing, happy few days and I can’t forget the Taxis that came to bring very excited ladies to hear Mike Denver in concert in Killarney and came back at 1. 30 am with signed photos. We departed for home on Thursday September 1, happy and reconnected with friends.
A lot of organization goes into the outing so thanks to Peg and all the committee, also Cloneygowan ARC who help out every year with extra bingo boards. Thanks to all our club members and friends for making it such a good trip. Regards Eileen Jones.
