Committee Says Thanks

The Portarlington 1916 Commemoration Committee would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported all our events during this Centenery year.
Thanks to all the businesses and individuals who supported us with funding and materials. To the people who helped to make each event a success.
To Laois Co Co Heritage department for their €1,600 to help us to pay for most of the materials etc we needed.

In 1966 at the entrance to the old Cemetery opposite Lea Castle a tree was planted to honour the men from the area who lost their lives in the 1798 rebellion & to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1916 rising

Also thanks to the public who came out for each event. Also to all of our Committee who put in the time and energy to mark the 100th Anniversary of the 1916 Rising.
St Vincent de Paul (Dancing)
Dancing continues every Monday night in The Gandon Inn, from 9.30pm to 11.30pm in aid of Portarlington St V de Paul. Come along for a great night out. Admission €7. All welcome.

DERRYOUNCE WALKS
The next PCDA/Derryounce Project Fundraising Walk 5K & 10K takes place on Saturday October 29th. Registration at 2pm at the Hawthorn Bar, Patrick Street.

Start time 2.30pm. Cost €5. Route: Derryounce 5K approx 1 hour. 10K approx 2 hours. Refreshments after in the Hawthorn. For further information please contact PCDA/ Love Port office on 085 8568801.

Mom & Me a Film By Portarlington native Ken Wardrop will be showing on Sunday November 13th in the Heritage Hotel Killenard. Afternoon matinee showing @ 3pm. Evening showing @ 7.30pm. 50 Tickets for each showing only available. FRIENDS TOGETHER
Meetings are held on Tuesday & Friday in the Scouts Den on Main Street from 2.30-5pm. Parents & children welcome. Volunteer drivers needed to transport people. Phone: 087-2788472.

Sympathy
Deepest Sympathy to the family of Tom McGuinness Droughill who passed away on October 8. Tom will be sadly missed by his loving sister Theresa, nephew Michael, extended family, neighbours & friends. Requiem Mass took place in St Michael’s Church on Thursday October 13, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Tom rest in Peace.
