Portarlington Speakers Mastering the Art of Impromptu Speaking
Club President Carmel Moore gave an inspiring introduction on the importance of setting goals and then gave a moving recital of the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas elegy for his father “Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night”.
Donal Cahill gave a concise but comprehensive oversight of the Business Intelligence initiative which is giving Ireland a lead in the provision of high volume high value data in the public sector.
The art of impromptu speaking was mastered well as Topics Master Mark Bastow served a great variety of questions which had Carmel Moore giving Angela Merkel a make-over, Damian Oliver transforming Donald Trump into a leaner fitter man, Donal Cahill giving career advice to Barak Obama for when he leaves the White House, and James Mooney giving a very complete defence of the GAA’s policy of replaying finals rather than going into extra time.
