TREE PLANTING

In 1966 at the entrance to the old Cemetery opposite Lea Castle a tree was planted to honour the men from the area who lost their lives in the 1798 rising & to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1916 rising. Now 50 years later the Portarlington 1916 Commemoration Committee will plant another tree and erect a Plaque at the site on Sunday September 18 at 3pm. Some of the people who were there in 1966 are still around & we would be delighted to have them at this event. Also relatives of those who have passed away will be invited to attend.
