Emo House Farmers Market & Craft Fair – Every Sunday 10.30am – 4.30pm. Located in Emo Village. Come and browse the stalls where local crafts are showcased, and you can buy your fresh food from local suppliers. Live music and entertainment.
To mark 20 years since leaving school, a reunion of the class of 1995 from both Scoil Mhuire and St. Joseph’s C.B.S Portarlington will be held in The Anvil Inn on Friday September 11 from 9pm till late. We hope to see you all there for what’s sure to be a great night.
The Club’s new season opened with The Right to be Forgotten an informative and disturbing speech on the abuse and theft of personal data. The speaker Donal Cahill had researched the subject very well and explained the dangers in detailed and the safeguards available. There then followed a very useful step by step guide on how to write a speech from one of the Club officers.
Networking over tea gave friends a chance to catch up on the summer holidays and then it was back to the meeting to enjoy a very stimulating table topic session where members are invited to speak for one to two minutes on a wide range of subjects. Club President Carmel O’Leary mentioned the upcoming Speechcraft Workshop on six consecutive Tuesdays from Tuesday September 8 designed to give quick help to the inexperienced speaker and to assist the person with some training to become a more polished speaker. Baby & Toddler Group
Portarlington Baby & Toddler Group – Every Thursday 11am – 1pm in Portarlington Community Centre. A great way for parents to meet up with other parents. Supervised play and activities for children. Suitable for babies to preschoolers. For further information contact 087-2638140 & 086-3032824.
The Baby & Toddler Group will be holding their AGM on Thursday September 10 in the Community Centre – looking for new people to help with the running of the group.
Also looking for people to help with fundraising for the Baby and Toddler Group as we received no grant this year.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Ida Fitzpatrick (nee Stephenson) Clonsast & formerly Rosenallis who passed away on September 1. Ida will be sadly missed by her loving husband Pauric, sons Stephen & Robert, daughter Helen, sisters Doris & Joan, brother Alan, her extended family, neighbors & friends. Service took place on Thursday 3 in St Kevin’s Church, Clonbullogue, with Burial after in the adjoining Churchyard. May Ida rest in Peace.
Deepest Sympathy to the family of Marcella Tynan, Main St who passed away at her son John’s residence Ballyheigue Co. Kerry on Tuesday September 1. Marcella was predeceased by her loving husband John Joseph. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Elizabeth, sons Michael & John, daughters in laws Dolores & Mary, grandchildren, her extended family & friends. Requiem Mass took place in St Michael’s Church on Friday September 4, with Burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Marcella rest in Peace.
