Portarlington Speakers

Club President Carmel gave a very topical and vivid appreciation of Joseph Plunkett’s contribution to the 1916 rising & followed  with one of his poems.

Geraldine Kennedy took the Speakers back to 1989 zigzagging across Moscow, missing the potholes, enjoying the ballet, queuing for hours to get a McDonalds, and then queuing again for petrol all the time savouring the great Moscovite sense of humour.

Donal Cahill took an interesting look at cutting edge modern management techniques clearly explained in a manner that all could follow. Business Intelligence would enhance high level decision making and Donal explained its introduction into very large diverse complex organisation.

Area Director Dermot Dineen then took a very different approach to table topics. Members described various pictures before showing them to the audience. In this way members formed a mental image from the description which they then compared with the actual picture. A very interesting exercise. The next meeting at 7.45pm on Tuesday  March 1 at the Killenard Community Centre is an opportunity for anyone interested in joining the best and friendliest personal improvement club available to come along and see for themselves. All welcome. See Facebook, MeetUp,  email: port.speakers@gmail.com or visit our website here.

Portarlington First Responders need your help.

If you are thinking of taking part why not consider running or walking for The Portarlington Community First Responder Group. We are a local group of volunteers who depend solely on fundraising. All funds raised go towards the upkeep of our Public Accessible Defibrillators we have put in place & our Responder phone. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

If you would like a sponsorship card please message us on our Facebook page here: (Portarlington Community Responder Group). Email us on: chairman@portarlingtonfirstresponders.com or contact the Love Port office @ 085-8568801 & they will pass your details on.  Help us to help our community in their time of need.

We’re always on the lookout for new members. If you don’t feel confident to be a responder we will train and support you all the way or you can help with the running of the scheme and fundraising. No amount of help is too small.
