Deepest Sympathy to the family of Lorna Robins, Ballymorris Court & formerly Millbrook Manor who passed away on Sunday June 2 surrounded by her loving family. Lorna will be sadly missed by her parents Edwin & Susan Robins, her sister Yvona, partner Jer, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place on Wednesday June 5.

May Lorna’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Mary Kate (Mamie) Dooley (nee Doyle) Congress Tce & formerly Leeds, who passed away on Saturday June 1. Mary Kate was predeceased by her husband John and daughter Marie. She will be sadly missed by her loving family Gerry, Anne and Seán, extended family, neighbours and friends. May Mamie’s gentle soul rest in Peace. Funeral took place on Thursday June 6.

Laois Schools Interactive Folklore Exhibition  – Laois Folklore from the 1930s schools collection brought to life in the modern classroom with voice overs , illustrations, animation and motion graphics. Featuring students from the Presentation Primary School and St Fintans Boys N.S. Saturday June 15 from 11am-2pm . No booking necessary.

Toddler Storytime with Sarah Sparkles-Join us for a fun filled storytime suitable for children aged 0-4 years.

Tidy Town Clean Up – Starting from the library on Wednesday June 19 at 10am Refreshments will be served in the library after the clean up.

Human Library-Friday  June 21 from 11am-1pm :This is an opportunity to speak and share with people with different lived experiences . We are looking for volunteers who are willing to share their story on the morning. 

Puzzle Club – join us for a jigsaw morning and a cuppa. Every Tuesday during the month of May 10.30am -12:30pm. 

Knitting Club-Meets every Friday morning 10.30am-12.30pm . All skill levels from beginner to advanced are welcome! 

Portarlington Junior Book Club-Meeting on the last Wednesday of the month. This club is suitable for 9-12year olds.

Sensory Toy Resource Collection – a service for parents of children with additional needs who live in Co. Laois. The toys are designed to support the development of gross motor skills, fine motor skills and communication skills. 

Laois Libraries Online Book Club- reading one book a month chosen from the Borrow Box collection. Join us on the last Wednesday of each month when questions are posed for discussion on our Book Club Facebook page. This month we are reading A Bird In Winter by Louise Doughty. It is available to download in audio and ebook format on Borrowbox.
