GROW MENTAL HEALTH

Did you know that GROW have had a meeting place in Portarlington for the last no of years. Meeting for a chat & a cuppa every Thursday at 2.15pm at the Social Services Centre on the Link road. For more information on Ports meeting contact Assumpta at 0868114135.

The Tidy Town's 'Spring Clean' of Portarlington on Saturday 23 April was a big success. Over 120 volunteers took part at 34 different locations across the town and surrounding areas. 190 sacks of rubbish were collected.

ENERGY MASTER PLAN

Portarlington Business Association Sustainable Energy Community group (PBA SEC) will host a launch event in the Portarlington Community Centre at 7pm on Thursday May 23. 

The launch event will include a range of expert installers of heat pumps, solar panels, insulation etc, & attendees will have a chance to ‘Ask the Experts’ any questions they may have on energy efficiency, retrofits, grant or loan funding etc.

Details on a range of sample residential and non residential building audit, which show how different buildings can be made more energy efficient and the supports available for al.

Deepest Sympathy to the family & friends of Ian (Drez) Henderson Portarlington & formerly Dubin, who passed away suddenly on Wednesday May 8. Funeral took place in Dublin on Tuesday May 14. May Ian rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Mantas Zukas, Portarlington & formerly Tallaght, Dublin, who passed away unexpectedly, at The Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise on Wednesday May 8. Mantas will be sadly missed by his mother Zana, dear brother of Erika, Tomas, Emma and Karolis and loving father of Adrianas, Milena and Milana,  Sadly missed by his loving son, daughters, mother, brothers, sisters, relatives, neighbours and friends. Funeral took place in Dublin on Tuesday May 14. May Mantas rest in Peace.

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the family of John Lalor, Shaen, Emo who passed away on Saturday May 11, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. John was pre-deceased by his parents Christopher and Sheila, sisters Julia and Nora. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Betty, family Sheila, Eoin, Cathal and Àine, brothers Christopher & Jimmy, extended family, relatives and friends. May John rest in Peace. Funeral took place on Wednesday May 15. 

PORT GAA NEWS

BINGO-Bingo at Port GAA Centre every Tuesday night at 8pm. Over €3,000 in prize money to be won. Free parking and wheelchair accessible. 

DARKNESS INTO LIGHT-Where there is light there is hope. Our club were proud to host the official Darkness Into Light Portarlington walk on Saturday May 11. On a beautiful morning a huge crowd turned out for the walk around the stunning Corrig wood route. The club would like to extend a huge well done to Sheila Dunne & committee for their hard work in planning such a professional, well organized event. Portarlington community spirit at its finest!

GRACEFIELD GAA-Lotto results for May 13. Numbers drawn were -17-9-21-16. No winner of Jackpot. €50 each to Ann Molloy, Luis Byrne, Mag Muldoon, Nora Byrne & Martin Havill.  Promoter’s prize-Jamie Hanlon. Next Jackpot-€14,000. 

The Committee would like to thank everyone involved in what was an unbelievable day in the Gracefield GAA grounds at the Blackthorn Festival. Hoping everybody enjoyed it.

Running an event like this would not be possible without the help of so many people.

There is far too many to name, but this event was a long time in the planning, and to everybody that helped in any way, a sincere thank you.

Féile Winners

Congratulations to our U15s on their victory in the Féile Peil na nÓg B final recently. They will now go on to represent the Club and County at the Féile in June. Preparations are well underway & we are very proud of our players and mentors.
