GROW MENTAL HEALTH

Did you know that GROW have had a meeting place in Portarlington for the last number of years. Meeting for a chat & a cuppa every Thursday at 2.15pm at the Social Services Centre on the Link road. For more information on Ports meeting contact Assumpta at 0868114135.

4TH LAOIS SCOUTS

We’re having a registration night for new members between the ages of 9 and 14 on Tuesday April 16 from 7pm to 8pm. We will also be opening up a Beavers section for ages 6-8 in September, so if your child would like to join in September we would be happy to give you information on the night. Looking forward to seeing you there.

BOXING CHAMP

A big well done to Portarlington girl Rosaletta Casey who won her All Ireland Boxing Championship recently. Rosaletta boxes out of the Portlaoise Boxing Club. All Ireland Champion 2024

PCDA

The Portarlington Community Development Association (PCDA), run the following projects- Pobal Senior Alarm service, after- schools service, Derryounce Lakes and Trails and the soon to be reactivated Garda Text Alert service among other initiatives. 

Over the past 25 years the PCDA is run by volunteers and a board of Directors (also volunteers). Our current committee are-Aidan Mullally (Chairman), Aidan Mullins (Vice Chair), Lillian Sheils (Treasurer), Michael McEvoy (Secretary), Colm Powell (Director), Kevin Hoey (Director & Tidy Towns rep), Julia Leavy (Director), Mary Keogh (Director), Eddie Fitzpatrick (Director), Laura Conway. We will keep our followers updated on all current and future PCDA projects.

Sensory Toy Resource Collection – A service for parents of children with additional needs who live in Co. Laois. The toys are designed to support the development of gross motor skills, fine motor skills and communication skills. Our annual clothes collection will take place at the Gracefield GAA centre for the last two Saturdays in April, the 20 & 27 from 11am to 1pm. We appreciate all donations. Also if you have some free time any of the Saturdays please contact Jenny on 087 9656983, all help will be appreciated.
