The Killenard Cemetery committee would like to thank everyone who donated to their Church Gate collection recently at St John’s Church Killenard & St Michael’s Church Portarlington. All money is needed for the ongoing upkeep of the Cemetery.


St Conleth’s LGFC Needs your help! We are looking for volunteers to help us with training for U6s and U8s. Saturdays at O’Dempsey’s club. No football experience needed. Your support is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Well done to all the 3rd years and TY students and their Science teachers at Colaiste Iosagain who displayed all their projects in Scifest 2024 in their PE Hall last Wednesday. An excellent display of work.

The PCDA would like to thank Portarlington Men’s Shed for their work in restoring some of their bird boxes in Derryounce. As nesting season fast approaches we are sure that these newly restored boxes will provide the perfect nesting place for some of the many bird species in Derryounce. Thank you Port Men’s Shed.


My deepest Sympathy to the family of Pat Sweeney (nee Grattan) Arlington Est, who passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday March 17. Pat was predeceased by her son Declan, brother Thomas & sister Christina.  Pat will be sadly missed by her devoted husband Joey, daughter Denise, sons David & Joe, her beloved grandchildren, Cian, Megan, Rachel, John, Adam & Conor, brother Christy, sisters Marie, Pauline, Margaret and Catherine, son-in-law Darren, daughters-in-law Maura and Roisin,  extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place on Tuesday March 19. May Pat’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Tom Mulhall, Capakeel Emo who passed away on Tuesday March 19. Tom was a former County Councillor at Laois Co Co. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Bridget, daughter Una, son Niall, grandchildren Alison & Daniel, sister Ann & brother Eamon, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place in St Paul’s Church Emo on Thursday March 21. May Tom rest in peace.

For their club now has reached the ripe old age of forty.
