Crime Prevention Advice to deter theft of bicycles, lawnmowers and ride on mowers.
There have been a small number of such items stolen from sheds and garages in different parts of Laois and Offaly.
Determined criminality is sometimes involved, however the opportunist will take full advantage of any weaknesses.
Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Graham Kavanagh advises “to secure and deter the theft of such items consider chaining a number of items together and using a ground anchor. Consider a local alarm in garage to alert you as to intrusion. Mark and photograph items, e.g -unique property marking that will help identify an owner quickly if property is recovered. Report all suspicious activity.

LINE DANCING

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Philomena Condron (nee Griffin), St Brigids’s Sq Portarlington & formerly Charleville, Co Cork who passe away on Thursday September 24. Phil was predeceased by her son Kevin, grandchildren Niall, Patrick & Evelyn, and Joe. Phil will be sadly missed by her daughter Marian (Brereton), sons Raymond, Vincent & Declan, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours & friends. Requiem Mass took place on Saturday September 26 at St Michael’s Church, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Phil’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

SYMPATHY
Deepest Sympathy to the family of Sean Dowling, Twomey Park Mountmellick who passed away at his residence on October 1. Sean will be sadly missed by his loving wife Patricia (Foran), daughter Sandra, son Shane, grandsons Daniel & Conor, his extended family & many friends. Requiem Mass took place on Sunday October 4 at St Joseph’s Church Mountmellick, with burial after in St Joseph’s Cemetery. May Sean rest in Peace.

TIDY TOWNS
A big well done to all the members of Portarlington Tidy Towns who did all the hard work on achieving to put benches on Station Road and at St Michael’s Park. Also, well done to Colm & Anne Dunne who created the logo used for Portarlington Tidy Towns, and is beautiful on the new benches. Lastly a big thank you to John Griffin and his crew for putting the benches in place. “LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE”.
