BEST WISHES TO DENISE

Denise Geoghegan has been making wonderful progress since her heart transplant. Denise has spent the last 7 months in hospital, so hopefully it will not be too long before she gets home to her family. The Gofund me page is still ongoing for Denise & her family.


BUILD IT FOR ANDY

Portarlington RFC are still raising funds for Andrea. The build is making great progress. The Club are looking to generate the funds, labour and materials needed to build a home for Andy, her partner Adam & their 2 young children. PORTARLINGTON PARISH

Masses have resumed, and will continue with all the Covid19 guidelines. Times of Masses are as follows- St Michael’s Church Portarlington-Monday to Friday, 10am. Saturday 6.15pm. Sunday 9am. 11am Mass on Webcam. St John’s Church Killenard-Sunday’s 10.30am. Emo-Saturday 7.30pm & Sunday 11am. Rath-Saturday 7.30pm.

BAPTISM

The Sacrament of Baptism has recommenced. The limit is 4 Baptisms at a time. If you wish to book a baptism please contact the Parish office Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 1.30pm. Phone 057-8643004.

Portarlington Union of Parishes

Services have resumed at two of our Churches for public worship once again.

10am in St John’s Church Monasterevin & 11.30 am in St Paul’s Church Portarlington.

The services will be a service of the word, with restrictions on where people can sit so that we keep to the guidelines for everyone’s safety. So, keep to the social distancing and stay at home if you are unwell. There will also be Compline online that evening for those who cannot come to church and have access to online.

 

PLEASE HELP ANNEMARIE

Another young girl from our Community needs your help. Annemarie Gallagher from Treascon has been living in Australia this past 3 years. Unfortunately, Annemarie has been diagnosed with MS. Her health bills are quite enormous and at the moment because of her health and the restrictions on travel she is unable to travel home to her family. Please if you can donate and share to help Annemarie.

PORT CONCERT BAND

Band rehearsals have started back. Social distancing will be in place for all musicians.

The band is ready to go with their new drum line.

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Michael (Mick) Milner, Lough Portarlington & formerly Walsh Island who passed away on Sunday July 19. Mick was predeceased by his loving wife Mary. He will be sadly missed by his sons Francis, John, Thomas & Michael, daughters Martina, Therese, Michelle & Philomena, his sisters Ailish (O’Keefe) & Maureen, grandchildren, extended family, neighbours & friends. Requiem Mass took place on Wednesday July 22 in St Michael’s Church, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Mick rest in Peace.

 SYMPATHY

Heartfelt Sympathy to the family of 11-year-old Ben Connolly, Graigue Mountmellick & formerly Connolly St who passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday July 22. Ben was predeceased by his beloved brother Jake. Ben will be sadly missed by his devoted parents Terence & Nicolette, his brother Billy, grandparents Con & Marion Farrell & Tommy & Mary Connolly, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family & many friends. Funeral Mass took place on Saturday July 25 at St Joseph’s Church Mountmellick. May Ben’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

 

DERRYOUNCE

The Derryounce Lakes and Trails would like to thank everyone for their support with the recent very successful GoFundMe page. A Zero Turn Ride-On Mower was purchased with the funds. The volunteers of Derryounce will enjoy endless hours keeping the grass cut so the trails stay open to the many walkers who visit the site every day.

We would also like to say thank you to Stephen Hudson for organising the GoFundMe page.
