AMBER FLAG

received word today the A big well done to Scoil Phádraig Portarlington who have officially been awarded the Amber flag.

This flag is awarded by Pieta House, for promoting positive mental health awareness in school. Ms. Butler and her committee of 6 boys from all different classes in Scoil Phádraig were busy this year with different initiatives to encourage everyone to think more positively and slow down! These included “Mindful Mondays”, where children meditated for 10 minutes to clear their minds each week, Christmas jumper day on December 13 served as a fundraiser for Pieta house, and an opportunity to express how we are all different, and a Mental Health Awareness day, where each class accessed the meditation room to experience a guided meditation.

DERRYOUNCE

Derryounce Walks and Lakes are a valuable asset for the town & hinterland of Portarlington.

A gofundme page has been set up to help purchase some badly needed equipment for the volunteers who look after Derryounce. The upkeep of Derryounce is carried out by a dedicated team of volunteers who often use their own equipment.

It is used by a wide variety of people, including walkers, anglers, naturalists, photographers and people who want to experience its peace and tranquillity. Your donation would be much appreciated.
