Around Portarlington Way

Centenary 1916-2016.
Do we want to be the only town in Laois to do nothing to celebrate this Historic event?
The PCDA/Love Port are currently trying to facilitate the setting up of a Portarlington 1916 Commemoration Committee. We are inviting individuals and groups to help form a committee or help out in any way on proposals as to how the town can commemorate the 1916 Centenary.
Most towns and some villages in Laois already have committees in place.
Has your family any family History with the Rising? If so why not commemorate the event in some way in their honour.

Portarlington Speakers

How to Write a Speech-How do you write a speech? A question answered in depth by the panel in the ever popular round robin session backed up by extracts from the Competent Communication Manual (aka the Toastmasters Bible). A very entertaining evening was then enjoyed with Carmel Moore leading a lively table topics session. This was the last meeting before the Christmas Break and members will next meet on Tuesday January 5 at the Killenard Community Centre from 7.45pm to 9.30pm. So why not make an early resolution to join the Speakers in 2016 and twice a month come along to friendly meetings and enhance your communication and leadership skills? See the Club on Facebook, MeetUp, and www.portarlington.toastmastersclubs.org/
