NEEDING ASSISTANCE

Sergeant Dave Lynam, Portarlington Garda Station has put out a message to the public. “If you know of any vulnerable people, or anyone that needs assistance with anything, please don’t hesitate to contact the Station at (057) 8674100.” Unfortunately they can’t be used to take people to appointments but are there for anything else.

Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) Laois Alzheimer’s Society Resource Centre at 47 Main Street Portlaoise is closed, but if you need to meet Ann please ring in advance on 086 8372168 as she is working from home. We have cancelled all Social Clubs and Support Group for the moment, and we will take advice as to when we can resume these and reopen the office. A Covid-19 Community Response Forum has been established in Laois & Offaly, coordinated by Laois & Offaly County Councils. This is to respond to the needs of the vulnerable members of our Community. Deepest Sympathy to John & Teresa Dunne & family Tierhogar on the death of John’s sister Alice Rosen (nee Dunne), Germany & formerly Tierhogar who passed away on March 22 in Germany. Alice was predeceased by her loving husband Hans. A memorial Mass will take place for Alice in St John’s Church Killenard at a later date. May Alice rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Patrick McEntaggart, Clondalkin Dublin & formerly the Coolin Portarlington who passed away on Tuesday March 31. Pat was predeceased by his loving wife Josephine. He will be sadly missed by his son Sean & daughter Patricia, grandchildren Adam, Alex & Sean, sister Stacia, his extended family, neighbours & friends. A small private funeral was held for Pat. A celebration of Patrick’s life with family and friends will take place in due course. May Pat rest in Peace.

The organisers of the Brigidine Past Pupils Reunion, which was due to take place at the Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge, on Sunday, April 19, 2020, regret to announce that, due to to the Covid-19 coronavirus, we have had to cancel the event in the interest of health and safety.
