Public Meeting
A public meeting took place last Tuesday November 24th in the Portarlington Social Services Centre. Because of the poor attendance the PCDA/Love Port are still trying to facilitate the setting up of a Portarlington 1916 Commemoration Committee. We are inviting individuals and groups to help form a committee which will agree on proposals on how the town can commemorate the 1916 Centenary. Have any of you connections with the people who died during the Rising? It would be nice to honour them in some way in your own town.
Most towns and some villages in Laois/Offaly already have committees in place. If you are interested and would like to be involved please contact the PCDA/Love Port office on 085-8568801 between 9.30am and 5pm or email info@portarlington.ie. You can also call into our office which is located in the Portarlington Community Centre, Link Road.
