LEA CASTLE CONSERVATION PROJECT
Lea Castle Conservation Group will present a talk on Lea Castle and an update on the conservation plans for the site on Thursday August 23 at 8pm in Portarlington Library. The Group will discuss the recently prepared Conservation and Method Statement for the castle and plans for the walkway from the town to the castle. Well known historian John Stocks Powell will present “Lea Castle, a different perspective” and give some interesting views on Lea Castle. Admission is free and all are welcome.
HERITAGE WEEK 2018
The Lea Castle Conservation Group will host an evening celebrating the heritage of Irish whiskey as part of Heritage Week 2018. The event takes place on Friday August 24 in the fabulous setting of Glanmalire House, Ballybrittas. Renowned whiskey expert Gerard Garland will give a talk on the history of Irish whiskey and the huge growth of its popularity in recent years and his talk will be supported by suitable samples for guests to try. The talk will be followed by a light supper and traditional music provided by Portarlington Comhaltas. Tickets are €25 available from Martin Whelehan, Central Stores or from the website THE HERITAGE OF IRISH WHISKEY – Lea Castle and all proceeds to the Lea Castle Conservation Project.
