Dancing in Aid of Portarlington St Vincent de Paul continues every Monday night in the Gandon Inn Hotel & Restaurant. Dancing on June 25 with Cupla. Admission €8. Dancing 9.30pm to 12. A great night assured.

Bingo continues every Tuesday night at 8.30pm in the Port GAA Centre. Prize money given out each week is over €2,300.

PORTARLINGTON CONCERT BAND
The AGM of Portarlington Concert Band took place on Monday June 11. Chairperson Pat Donegan welcomed all to the meeting. He told the meeting that the past year had been successful & encouraging with numbers increasing regularly. He also thanked the many local business people who supported the band financially & those who sponsored instruments. Pat also thanked his fellow committee members for their hard work & dedication.
Committee for the next year elected were-Chairperson-Pat Donegan, Secretary-Martina Norman, Treasurer-Phyllis Donegan, Ass Treasurer-J J Dunne, PRO-Rena Kennedy Killeen, Committee members Dr Larry Fullam, Patsy Farrell, Edward Newall & Ibiso Chinda.
The Concert Band meet every Thursday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm at the old girl’s school on Patrick St. Boys & girls aged 8 years & upwards. Instruments offered are: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone & Percussion. Instruments are provided. If you would like your child to learn an instrument please call to the school on Thursday evenings or contact Pat Donegan on 083-8510428.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Elizabeth Mullen (nee Terrett), Corrig who passed away suddenly on Monday June 11. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Syl. She will be sadly missed by her son Richard, daughter Aoife, grandson Darragh, daughter in law Linda, brothers in law Tony, Noel & Paddy, sister in law Mary, extended family, neighbours & friends. Requiem Mass took place on Friday June 15 in St John’s Church Killenard, with burial after in the adjoining Cemetery. May Elizabeth rest in Peace.

Requiem Mass took place on Tuesday June 12 in the Church of the Holy Rosary Castlebar, with burial after in High Street Cemetery Ferbane, Co. Offaly. May Doris rest in Peace.
