PCDA FUNDRAISING TABLE QUIZ
The Portarlington Community Development Association/ Love Port office are holding a fundraising Table Quiz in the Hawthorn Bar Portarlington on Friday March 9 @ 8.30pm. All monies raised on the night will go towards the support of our ongoing local projects.

Please come out and support us on the night. Cost- €40 per table with 4 to a table.

 MONDAY NIGHT DANCING

Dancing in Aid of Portarlington St Vincent de Paul continues every Monday night in the Gandon Inn Hotel & Restaurant. Monday night dancing on February 19- with The Blue. Admission €7. Dancing 9.30pm to 12. A great night assured.

BINGO

The Social Services bingo returned last Wednesday February 7 in the Centre Link Rd. It will continue every Wednesday night at 8.30pm. Looking forward to seeing all our regular bingo players & we welcome new players to join us.

PORTARLINGTON CONCERT BAND

The Concert Band for boys & girls aged 9 years and upwards is back up and running for the New Year. Instruments offered are: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Euphonium & Percussion. If you would like your child to learn an instrument in the New Year please contact Pat Donegan on 083-8510428.

GALA BALL

St. Brigid’s active retirement Garryhinch/ Cloneyhurke.  Bingo resumes on Tuesday February 20 at 7.30pm. New members welcome.

 

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to Breda Flanagan Gracefield & her family on the death of her brother Pat Brophy Killeen, Mountmellick who passed away on February 3. Pat was well known in the Laois GAA circle, & a retired member of the Prison Service. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Chris, sons Darren, Glenn, Colm & Patrick, daughters Aisling & Emma, brother Donie, sisters Liz, Marie, Breda, Rosie, Bernie & Cyndi, his extended family, neighbours & many friends. Requiem Mass took place on Tuesday February 6 in St Paul’s Church Emo, with burial after in the new Cemetery Emo. May Pat rest in Peace.

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the Costello family Killenard on the death of their Mam Kathleen Costello (nee Duggan), Killenard on January 31 at Portlaoise Hospital after a short illness. Predeceased by her son’s Noel Raymond & David. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth, PJ, Arthur, John, Brian, Mary, Catherine & Matt. Daughters in law. Grandchildren & partners, Great Grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Private cremation took place on Thursday February 1. The family are very grateful to the nurses, doctors & the palliative care for their wonderful care. May Kathleen rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Camillus Kenna Dublin & Portarlington who passed away on Monday February 5. Camillus was son of the late Billy & Teresa Kenna Bracklone St. He will be sadly missed by his brothers Gerard & Declan, sister in law, nephews & nieces, extended family & friends. Requiem Mass took place in St Michael’s Church Portarlington on Wednesday February 7, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Camillus rest in Peace.

ARLINGTON AFC

Easter camp for girls on March 26 & 27 at the Arlington AFC, Castle Park Lea Road. Cost of camp €30, with sibling discounts. Each participant receives 2 days coaching, a soccer kit & ball. To book go to www.soccersisters.ie.

Senior men’s preseason training commences on Tuesday February 13 at 7.30pm at Castle Park. New players 16 & over are welcome.

Portarlington Buddies.
Equipeople based in Garryhinch are looking after a study tour for a group of 10 Dutch / Italian students. They want host family accommodation in the Portarlington area. The students are 15 / 16 years old and there will be two teachers also staying in the area in the event of a problem. We are looking for families who are interested in hosting one or two students from 13 – 20 March. You will need to provide 7 night’s accommodation, breakfast, four or five dinners and take them to the St Patrick’s Day parade in Portarlington. Apart from St Patrick’s day, they will be gone all day on tour. If you are interested in hosting or know of anyone who might be interested in hosting, please give Caroline a call on 057 8643195 and she can tell you more about it. Please spread the word.
