
Arlington AFC Founder dies
Sympathy is extended to the family of Tommy Ryan, Beechcroft, Sandy Lane who passed away suddenly at his home on Friday February 6. Tommy was predeceased by his loving wife Maureen. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Christine, grandson Philip, son in law David, his extended family & many friends. Tommy lived during his childhood in Spa Street with his parents Jim & Bridget Ryan, his brothers Neddy, Shamie & John & his sister Bridie (McNulty). Tommy returned to Ireland in 1969 after a number of years in the UK. He worked as a butcher in Mathews supermarket Main St before he retired.
Tommy loved sport & he was fondly known over the years as one of the founder members of Arlington Football Club where he did Trojan work for many years. His love of horses, especially Connemara ponies led him to work with the Laois riding school for the Disabled. Requiem Mass took place on Monday February 9, with burial after in St. Paul’s Churchyard, French Church St. For anyone who missed Tommy’s funeral, his Months Mind will take place on Saturday next March 7 @ 6.15pm in St. Michael’s Church. May Tommy rest in Peace.
