A Portlaoise College Christmas 

On 9th December Portlaoise College held its first annual Christmas Day in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital. There were numerous events going on during the day such as:

Christmas Market: Students from 1st year and TY sold various wonderful items that students, staff and parents purchased at great prices. This was run as a business enterprise activity where students learned about costs, profits, marketing and product presentation.

Santa’s Grotto: Over 300 students from Junior, Senior and 1st class at Scoil Bhride National School and the Gaelscoil Phortlaoise got to meet Santa with each child receiving a delicious treat baked by our Home Economics department.

Christmas Dinner for members of a local Day Care Centre: Approximately 30 members of the Day Care Centre on the Timahoe Road were treated to a full Christmas dinner compliments of the school canteen.

Christmas Jumper Day: All students and staff wore Christmas jumpers and prizes were given to the best dressed students and staff. All participants donated generously to partake in the competition.

Carol Singing: To add to the festive spirit our fantastic school choir were carol singing on the school stage all day.

Overall €800 was raised for Crumlin Children’s Hospital
