RAINFALL 2015:
With a third of the year gone so far, a look at the rainfall statistics gathered will probably be of great interest to the farmers and gardeners who follow the Laois Weather page here.
Overall the year is proving rather dry. January recorded 69.9mm some 22.5mm short of it’s average. February followed suit with 44.3mm recorded, some 22.7mm short of its average. March came in near normal, with 68.6mm recorded – just 2.4mm short. April was quite a dry month, living up to its name as the driest month of the year with 35.4mm recorded which was 26.6mm drier than average.
Taking all the above into account, on May 1st the year was running 74.2mm short of normal (~75%). However, the first three days of May have seen 32.5mm of rain fall which is 50% for the month, so perhaps mother nature is starting to balance the books!
